Post Thanksgiving Update

Hi, Kindreds!

Gosh, it feels so good to be home. Joshua and I returned home last night after our four-day Thanksgiving holiday. We shuffled all our things from our overstuffed car to our home and bustled around, getting settled in. We emptied our bags, put our things away, found new homes for our Black Friday finds. I tucked my things away in my office and let them be, then I slipped into something comfy. I diffused cinnamon and Lemon Vitality to freshen and liven the place back up, and did one good wipe-down of all the counters. Having fresh wiped counters is therapeutic for me. Even if they don’t really need wiping, I wipe them anyway sometimes.

Season of Surrender | An Artisan Film Story

Season of Surrender | An Artisan Film Story

This story speaks volumes about who I am inherently and season of life I am in right now. The longer I live, I learn that when authors pen a story, some part of that story reflects themselves. Whether Tolkien dreamed of being an unlikely hero like Bilbo Baggins or Frodo Baggins, an unwavering devoted friend like Samwise Gamgee, or perhaps he revealed himself to struggle with power and greed like Smeagol turned Gollum, I think we’ll never fully know. But I do know that this visual story tells so much of myself. It tells of the next stepping stone in my business journey, and it tells of the physical seasons changing. It makes me so thrilled for what’s to come and incites excitement for me in this new direction.

Productivity Tips To Work Smarter, Not Harder | VIDEO

Productivity Tips To Work Smarter, Not Harder | VIDEO

A little unspoken goal that I’ve pushed to achieve this year is to create more video content. I post my videos to YouTube to hold them all in one place. It mostly started when I thought video content might make my information a bit easier to digest. Some people are talkers by trade, but I’m a writer by trade. One of my strengths/values in business is communication, so I try my best to diversify the way I communicate with my clients so it’s not just email after email or text after text. One of those methods is video!

3 Ways to Overcome Comparison and Use It To Grow Your Business

3 Ways to Overcome Comparison and Use It To Grow Your Business

That was one heck of a title, huh? There may be a better one out there but it was important to me to be concise when titling this entry. Speaking of words…..

I posted an Instagram entry a few days ago that sparked a fire in many of it’s readers. There are so many of us that want to break free from the trend, yet can’t quite get behind our own individual tastes just because it’s not the majority. We strongly believe in what we believe, but if it’s not on trend, we just don’t share. Or if we do, it’s very subtle and not a bold voice in the crowd.

Before Baby Oliver

HI, Kindreds! What an exciting time it is for KTP! In my effort to be transparent about the work it takes to build your own business, I forget sometimes to celebrate the small victories and invite my business champions to celebrate with me. I am quickly approaching the season of business where I am welcoming returning clients back for second and third sessions. Each time, it’s a new season of life and I’m so happy to really get to walk with them through life’s precious moments.

Why Vendor Consultations Are Your Best Friend

Why Vendor Consultations Are Your Best Friend

I’m popping at you with a helpful post that may just change the way you hire your wedding vendors! Today, we’re talking about consultations. I require a consultation with all wedding inquiries before confirming a booking. These consultations are at no obligation, so you are not required to book with me during or after the meeting. As a matter of fact, these consultations are for both of us to decide if we want to move forward with booking! So why meet up instead of just sending prices? Here’s a few reasons why consultations help us make a wise decision.

Farm Sessions 2018 - Part 1

Farm Sessions 2018 - Part 1

I'm over the moon at how much fun farm sessions were and I want to share a few snippets from each session. If you missed it, or are new around here, I welcomed families and couples to my family farm where I grew up. There are plenty of rustic, organic backgrounds that inspired laid back, fun-filled portraits. At my family farm, there is a wide open space surrounded by pine trees and the occasional oak tree, and if you know anything about oak trees, can I get a hallelujah for that heavenly diffused light?! Just a fair warning, there was golden sunrise madness in some of these photos! Pure liquid gold sunlight just pouring everywhere! There's some pretty great bokeh too. (BOKEH!!) It was wonderful and beautiful!

How are things going?! I'm over here cooking up ideas in this creative brain juice of mine! One of my favorite things about being a business owner is how I get to make my own ideas come to life. It's up to me and only me to make things happen. Lately, I've been seeing how many of those little details I've planned in the past year or two have fallen into place, and how they actually succeed.

Katie & Brandon | Engaged

Katie & Brandon | Engaged

I can't tell you how humbled and thrilled I was when Katie reached out to me about photographing her wedding! Suddenly everything came full circle and one of the most precious parts of my job begins: the moment you begin walking with old friends through life-changing moments. it's the moment you get to see someone you've watched grow up, make big decisions.  it's one of the high points of a job that often gets clouded by self-promotion within the industry and reminds me that whether or not I sweated over my website copy, curated the perfect blog post, or planned the best Instagram I could, I'm often hired for me. And that's so encouraging!
