The Holiday Spirit

The Holiday Spirit

Christmas is fast approaching and as I sit here and reminisce on the season so far, I can't help but think that this is a wonderful holiday season so far. I don't know about ya'll but my perception of the holiday season is greatly affected by the temperature. LOL. If it's cold, it must be falll/winter! If it's hot (because we Floridians know that there's only a few types of temperatures with the majority being similar to a hot wing sauce scale. You know, hot, hotter, hottest, Fire, Insane, ect. And maybe a drive by cool front that's gone faster than it came.), then it's summer! I hate to break it to you, but there's no "spring" down here in Florida.  It's always 75 degrees or higher. LOL.

Adventures In Film: Chapter 6 | Summer Memories

Adventures In Film: Chapter 6 | Summer Memories

Good Morning, friends! Today's post is another installment of the Adventures in Film series! I recently uploaded a post with my new Canon Elan IIe + Portra 400 + TheFINDLab! Those portraits were DA BOMB. Like, I fell in love with film 100%. This roll was probably my first roll of Portra 400 out of the pack. It was also in the Olympus auto camera from one of the first Adventures In Film posts! I think the quality of Kodak's finest grain film really shows up here, even in a camera that could be seen as....a really bad camera. LOL. I don't mean to hurt your feelings, camera. *pats the Olympus*

The Pressure & The Peace

The Pressure & The Peace

The force of social media is so relentless these days. It's hard to scroll the feed and not want what someone else has. Or rather.....what someone else has staged. Does that mean that they don't have that "thing" either? Or if they do, it's only for a second, for a moment. Sometimes the truth of one of those images shines and you see that someone curates beauty that they see in the world around them. But still, when we spend so much time, even the truth of those images is warped and we find ourselves longing for something someone else has. We find ourselves coping with the falsity that what we have isn't good enough because it doesn't fit the parameters of "trendy".

Adventures In Film: Chapter 5 | After Irma

Adventures In Film: Chapter 5 | After Irma

Today I'm reporting from day 3 or 4 of dark, rainy, stormy, WINDY weather. I've been barricaded inside for the past few days and while there are moments that I love the wind and rain (like when I'm falling asleep and waking up), there comes a point when I need, no NEEEEEDDDDD some sunshine and fresh air! I think I have 12 inch long fingernails, protruding eyeballs and an ever growing humpback......

I Hope I Am Who You Are Searching For.

I Hope I Am Who You Are Searching For.

I must have been 15. My mom bought me an outfit that, while I was grateful, I felt like a complete SQUARE in it. The outfit was cute, y'all! But to an impressionable 15 year old who wanted so badly to fit in, square wasn't something I could take a chance on being. But between dressing up in outrageous theatre costumes at every chance and head banging in the school parking lot with my friend Jamie, there wasn't much hope for redemption.

Early Morning Jungle Creature Training

Early Morning Jungle Creature Training

Early this morning, the kitties meowed to go outside as they usually do. A bit later, after coming inside for a mandatory water break, they darted back outside to continue playing in the great outdoors! This time, I sent Bella out with them since she hadn't been outside yet. I ended up hanging out outside to watch them since it was a mild 70-something degrees somewhere in the 7:00 hour. All the animals frolicked about for a bit and then for the first time I've seen, both kitties made a mad dash for our mango tree and skittered right up the trunk and into the shady bungalow! I hung out a bit under the tree to make sure they could get down by themselves and ended up taking practice shots with my telephoto zoom lens. They were high up in the tree so it was the perfect opportunity to shoot with a lens made for shots at a distance.

1st Anniversary Vacation To The Smoky Mountains | Part 3

1st Anniversary Vacation To The Smoky Mountains | Part 3

Welcome to the 3rd and possibly final installation of our anniversary trip to the mountains! There are a lot of extra photos of Elk and random fishing-in-the-river shots, but this post holds my favorites. For the last part of our trip, we stayed with Joshua's grandparents in their cozy camper by Deep Creek. They are backed up right against the perfect rushing creek that we went fishing in. It was my heaven! Except for the fact that when we went fishing in the river, I cast all of G-Pa's lures up into the lush foliage of the riverbanks since I'm used to fishing down here in wide-open Florida! LOL. And if it wasn't in the trees, it was stuck in the river rocks at the bottom. Looks like I'll be visiting more often to practice my casting skills! :D

1st Anniversary Vacation To The Smoky Mountains | Part 2

1st Anniversary Vacation To The Smoky Mountains | Part 2

Our cabin we stayed in was tucked away on the side of a mountain that was rich with foliage and life. Everything was SO GREEN. We would wake up in the mornings to a delightful temperature of high 60's and even though we visited places where the temperature rose to the high eighties (and possibly even 90 degrees somewhere in there), it never felt humid or choking. Of course, it seemed to the locals that we brought a lot of rain with us from Florida. LOL. This is the very same cabin and town we spent our honeymoon in last year and it was a joy to come back to it again! It is officially our special place. Last time, it was our first time up there and there was so much to see and do in the Smoky Mountains. This time, we could enjoy the cabin and town a bit more since we had done so much last time. We woke up late, ate breakfast, moseyed around the cabin for a bit, then spent most of the afternoon and evening out and about. These are a few snapshots of around the cabin we love so much!
