Antique Styling Treasures
Something really fun that has become the norm in the wedding industry is paper goods styling on the wedding day. If you’re not sure what that means, it is simply placing the invitation suite on a color coordinated surface, and arranging it with other beautiful details from the wedding day. Much of it can be sourced from other details that are a part of the day, and then the photographer also brings their own styling essentials that they’ve sourced themselves. Here are a few inspiration examples from some other photographers below!
Aren’t these flat lays just beautiful! I don’t think beautiful invitation suites have caught on yet here in most of FL, but I sure hope they do in the future because gosh, these are just so pretty!
In the meantime, I’ve been collecting a few things here and there to add to my styling kit, and while I don’t have much, it’s awful fun to go to antique shops and search for pretty little treasures from days past to make beautiful flat lays. Here’s a few little things I’ve found so far!
This is a cute little tray that I found at a local antique shop! it actually doesn’t seem that old but the artistry and detail on it would be great for a classic wedding with neutral and cool colors. I can use this to hold rings for those ring shots!
Next is this vintage Edwardian photo frame! This caught my eye because of the tintype portrait in it. I don’t know who this woman was or how her photo ended up in an antique shop, but I like to call her Edith these days. :) This would fit perfectly in a wedding suite at a historic venue with greens, blues and neutrals!
Look at this precious cameo!! I actually have plans to wear this one day but for now, it’s just perfect for flat lays! This would pair perfectly in a black tie affair style wedding with dark tones, and gilded with gold!
This cute pair is just two little nesting trays that would hold diamond or sapphire rings beautifully! It’s very plain and won’t be the star of the shoot at all but it’s perfect for a few little details. This would be so pretty in a pastel colored wedding suite!
Lastly is this little guy! It’s so pretty up close, you guys. I could stare at the details for so long. I think this would fit well in a suite that’s darker toned, and full of rich color! It kind of fits a church wedding too, I think!
